kevin proudman DC

secretary, the scotland college of chiropractic charitable trust

Kevin has been a practicing Chiropractor for 40 years since graduating from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in 1981. He has spent most of his working life in Northern Ireland and was then (1982) the only Chiropractor in full-time practice in the whole country. Kevin went on to open 11 very successful clinics (most of which he has since sold) and now has two clinics, one in Donegal in the Republic of Ireland, and one in Claudy in Co Londonderry.

Throughout his professional life, particularly over the last 30 years, in an attempt to keep some balance between forces which would turn our profession into highly skilled back mechanics, purely musculoskeletal, as opposed to what he believes to be the true nature of Chiropractic, firmly embedded in the vitalistic concepts, and delivering healing through the medium of the spine and nervous system.

Over many years Kevin has served the UK Chiropractic community at a number of levels, locally in Northern Ireland and Nationally.  He was involved at the beginning of the United Chiropractic (UCA) and was one of the first executives, and the second President of the UCA in 2000. In 2002 was elected by his peers to serve five years on the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). He served on the professional conduct committee of the GCC and gained skills in the application of legislation and insights into the spheres of law and statuary regulation.

Kevin is a registered Doctor of Osteopathy as well as a Chiropractor and is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine. He has also been an active member of the Baha’i community for 45 years and considers it central to his personal and professional life.

He has travelled widely, visiting Lesotho in Southern Africa, Australia, USA, Norway, Spain, Portugal, France and Switzerland. He was a crewmember in the Clipper Round the World yacht race in 2015 competing in leg 4 round Australia and has a PPL(H) - private pilot’s license (helicopters).

Kevin has been happily married for 40 years and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.  Kevin’s wife is a Doctor of Psychology in private practice.
